Ebortec is the inventor and designer of the Pre-stripping Heating Tray and Cascade Deodorising Tray. These patented designs allow lower operating temperatures and shorter times at elevated temperatures compared to conventional vertical column deodorisers. Lower temperatures and shorter residence times are key to reducing the formation of isomers.

Pre-stripping During Heating:
The pre-stripping heating tray is designed for progressive distillation as the temperature of the oil rises. During final heating the oil is continuously circulated over a series of elevated plates that provide a large surface area and a series of counter-current cascades for the evaporation of volatiles. See Figure 1.

Gentle Deodorising Conditions:
The cascade deodorising tray combines the advantages of the low hydrostatic head found in horizontal deodorisers with the efficient product changeovers associated with vertical column deodorisers.

Throughout the deodorising cycle a shallow tray configuration is achieved by continuously lifting oil into the upper shallow tray from where it cascades into the lower trays. This circulation of oil is counter-current to the flow of stripping steam injected into the lower trays. See Figure 2.

Ebortec deodorisers are available as continuous or semi-continuous (low contamination) units in sizes from 25 to 200 tonnes per day.
